Malacca trip 18-20 Nov

Is the year end school holidays.

On our way, the coach is spacious and most important it has individual TV games station.

We walked to Porta de Santiago and climbed up to the St. Paul church

Ho Chi Minh City - Day 6

Today is the last day in HCM....

We went last minutes shopping in the marketplace early in the morning. Bought some fruits, like mangos, dragonfruits and custerapples.

Bought some clothings for the kids too

We had a early lunch at the temple and leave for airport... we reached the airport at about noon and really for our flight at 2.15pm... After waited for 2hours.... the PA system announced that the flight will delay for an hour....

We went around snapping some photos. Bought 2 buns at 3USD each.... All the food at the airport are in USD and all super expensive... at least double the price from city

Ho Chi Minh City - Day 5

Today is the happiest day....for Ryan... wonderland day... Dam Sen Park

We went roud the park by tram. The park is quite big... Need to spend 1 whole day to cover all activties. Hope to cover more areas the next time...

Ho Chi Minh City - Day 3/4

3rd day - whole day shopping

2 market place and 1 supermarket

Is a wholesales market... v crowded and v hot...
lots lots of bags, shoes/slippers, clothings (especially pajamas)
in the end, did not buy anythings.... price not right(not really cheap) and mood not there(so hot)

Ho Chi Minh City - Day 2

We went to a few tourist spot.

1) General post office
The Saigon Central Post office, it's a well preserved of charming colonial style.
Saigon Central Post Office, built by the French colonials nearly a century ago when the country was called French Indochina

Located in the heart of the city, the Central Post Office has been a prominent feature of the Ho Chi Minh City or Saigon. This grand old edifice was constructed between 1886 and 1891 by Gustave Eiffel.

This classic colonial structure stands right next to the Notre Dame Cathedral, at the famous Paris Commune Square in the Ho Chi Minh City - Saigon.

2) Notre Dame Cathedral
Notre Dame Cathedral is situated in Paris Square, in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City. A French priest laid the first brick in October 1877 and the last one in April 1880.

4) Vinh Nghiem Pagoda, Ho Chi Minh
Vinh Nghiem Pagoda is located at 339 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia street in Ho Chi Minh City. It was constructed between 1964 and 1971 following the design of architect Nguyen Ba Lang.

This pagoda has a seven-storey classically-styled tower of strong Japanese influence was built with the assistance of the Japan Vietnam Friendship Association. The Kwan-Yin tower is located to the left of the pagoda.

5)Reunification Palace/ Presidential Palace/ Independence Palace
Reunification Palace formerly known as Independence Palace is another historic landmark in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Guides at the renamed Reunification Palace now offer daily tours to visitors.

The Palace is also noted for its striking 1960s architecture, the creation of Paris-trained Vietnamese architect Ngo Viet Thu. It was the site where the Saigon Government of South Vietnam officially surrendered to the revolutionaries on April 30, 1975, signifying a dawn of independence and unification for many elated Vietnamese citizens. The palace now functions as a sort of memorial and museum, displaying an abundance of war paraphernalia

6) War Crimes Museum / War Remnants Museum
The sobering War Remnants Museum was established in September 1975 in Ho Chi Minh City. It contains countless artifacts, photographs and pictures documenting some of the less heroic activities carried out by the US army in Vietnam.

Cu Chi Tunnels (not visit)

Cu Chi Tunnel is 70 km from Ho Chi Minh City in the Northwest. It is miniature battle versatile of Cu Chi’s military and people during the 30-year struggle longtime and fierce to fight invading enemy to receive independence, freedom for motherland.

It also is the special architecture lying deeply underground with many stratums, nooks and crannies as complex as a cobweb, having spares for living, meeting and fighting with total lengths over 200 km from Saigon to the Cambodian border.

Ho Chi Minh City - Vietnam Day 1

Woke up at 4.30am in the morning, reached airport Budget Terminal at 5.45am
Our flight is 7.15am, Tiger Airway to Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City

About 2hrs flight, and landed at HCM airport, the airport is quite new, which is less than 1 yr old.
HCM is 1hr behind Sin. so is still early. We took a cab to our fotang, about 30min from airport.
After lunch, we check in to the hotel, which is about 5mins walk away. The one and only hotel that is nearest to fotang.

Daily is only 200K VND, eqv to $15.85 SGD, super cheap!

Of course the room is eqv to the rate lah... v simple.... 1 queen and 1 single bed. Bedsheet and toilet is not fantastic. Toilet got longbath but the heater spoilt.. only toothbrush is provided... anyway we are they to sleep only, most important is cheap

After dinner, we went to watch the Water Puppet Show

Puppetry is common throughout the world, but puppetry theatre of Vietnam on water is unique.
Water puppetry was developed in lake and pond-rich areas in the Red River Delta. The surface of water serves as the stage while spectators sit at the edge of water. The puppeteers both male and female stand waist-deep in the water to manipulate the puppets making them move about and even dance on the surface of the water. The water serves not only to hide the puppeteers and strings of the puppets but also to create a trembling stage full of reflection, while providing natural amplification for singing puppeteers accompanied by percussion music and fire crackers.

There is a slight technical breakdown before the show start.... overall is worth watching and really salute the puppeteers.

Tokyo shopping - day 7

Last day of the trip. As our flight is in the evening 6.40pm. We still have some time to kill, we took a bus from our hotel to a nearby shopping mall

After 3 hours of shopping and eating, we are back to the hotel waiting for our coach to send us to the airport
